Facing the Storm So Your Roof Can Too

Utah's Roofing Experts You Can Count On
We are a roofing contractor working out of North Salt Lake, and most of what we do is within an easy drive of it — the valley, the Davis County towns along the bench, up through Ogden and Brigham City. The work is straightforward: find out what is actually wrong, say so plainly, and fix it so it holds through the next storm instead of the next three weeks.
That means getting on the roof. A lot of leaks that look like a shingle problem turn out to be flashing, a cracked boot around a plumbing vent, or ice dam damage from last winter that nobody caught.
We would rather spend an hour finding the real source than sell you a roof you did not need. If a repair will carry you, we will tell you that. If the roof is at the end of its life, we will tell you that too, and show you what we are looking at.
Our Roofing Services
Each of these has its own page with more detail on how the job actually goes.
-
Roof Repair
Missing or cracked shingles, failed flashing around a chimney or sidewall, a vent boot that has dried out and split. We track the leak to its source rather than patching the spot where the water shows up inside, because those are rarely the same place. -
Roof Replacement
When the shingles are curling, the granules are gone and the deck is soft in places, a tear-off is the honest answer. We go down to the decking, replace what is rotted, and rebuild the underlayment, flashing and ventilation along with the shingles. -
Emergency Roof Repair
Wind has peeled a section back or a branch has come through and water is coming into the house. The first job is stopping the water — tarping or a temporary dry-in — so the damage stops spreading while the permanent repair gets planned. -
Storm Damage Roof Repair
Hail bruises, wind creases along the shingle line, damaged ridge caps and bent gutters. We document what we find with photographs so you have something concrete to work from, whether you are paying out of pocket or filing with your insurer. -
Roof Inspection
A look at shingles, flashing, valleys, penetrations, ventilation and the attic side where the evidence often shows up first. Useful before you buy a house, after a bad storm, or when you just want to know how much life is left up there. -
Flat Roof Repair
Low-slope roofs over additions, garages and commercial buildings fail differently than steep slopes. Seams open, ponding water finds pinholes, and parapet and drain details leak. We find the seam or the detail that is letting go and repair the membrane properly. -
Metal Roofing
Standing seam and metal panel roofs shed snow well and last a long time in this climate. They also require the right fasteners, flashings and clearances to do it — done right they are low maintenance for decades. -
Gutter Installation
Gutters are part of the roof system. Undersized, poorly pitched or badly placed downspouts send water into fascia, siding and foundations. We size and hang them to handle the runoff your roof actually produces.
The problems we fix every day
Most calls start the same way — something showed up that was not there last month. Here is what those usually turn out to be.
-
A brown stain spreading on an upstairs ceiling
usually flashing or a split vent boot, not the shingles directly above it. Water travels before it drops. Roof Repair -
Shingles in the yard after a windy night
the seal strip let go, and the shingles still up there may be loose too. Storm Damage Roof Repair -
Grit piling up at the bottom of the downspout
granule loss. A little is normal on a new roof; a steady pile on an old one means the mat is wearing through. Roof Inspection -
Ice along the eaves and icicles off the gutter
an attic heat and ventilation problem backing water under the shingles. Roof Inspection -
Water coming in during the storm itself
wind has peeled a section back or something came through the deck. Stop the water first. Emergency Roof Repair -
A puddle that never dries on the garage roof
ponding on a low slope, finding pinholes and open seams. Flat Roof Repair -
Curling shingles and bare patches across the whole roof
the roof is at the end of its life, and repairs become a cycle. Roof Replacement -
Water running behind the gutter onto the fascia
undersized, poorly pitched or wrongly placed gutters. Gutter Installation

Why Choose White Ridge Roofing
Plain facts first: we are at 954 Mink Cir in North Salt Lake, the phone is (801) 880-7663, and we have 31 reviews on Google at a 5.0 average. That last one is not something we can edit — it is what our customers put there.
What we will not do is guess. Any quote we give you comes after somebody has been on the roof or in the attic, with photos of what we found. If we cannot see the cause of a leak from the ground, we are not going to price it from the ground either.
On storm work, we will document hail and wind damage thoroughly and give you everything you need for a claim. We will not tell you a claim is going to be approved, and we will not tell you we can influence an adjuster, because neither is true and anyone who says otherwise is selling you something. The adjuster makes that call. Our part is making sure the evidence is complete and the scope of repair is accurate.
We also will not pressure you on the roof you have. Plenty of roofs in this valley have another five or ten years in them and only need a flashing detail corrected. If that is your roof, we will say so and do that work.
Our Process
-
Inspection and estimate
We come out, get on the roof where it is safe to, and look at the attic side as well. You get photographs of what we found, an explanation of what is causing the problem, and a written estimate for the repair or replacement that addresses it. If there are two reasonable approaches — a repair now versus a replacement — we lay out both and what each one does and does not solve. -
Professional installation or repair
Once you have approved the scope, we do the work as written. Tear-off where a tear-off is called for, bad decking replaced rather than covered, flashing and underlayment detailed properly at every penetration and valley, and the site cleaned up at the end of the day.If we open the roof and find something the inspection could not have shown us — rot under the shingles, a layer nobody knew about — we stop and talk to you before we do anything that changes the price.
-
Final walkthrough
We walk the job with you at the end, show you the details that matter, and go over the manufacturer's material warranty that applies to the products installed on your roof, along with anything we are covering on the workmanship. Those terms are specific to the job and they get put in writing — we will not quote you a number of years over the phone before we know what is going on the roof.
Roof types we work on
Different materials fail in different ways here, and the right choice depends on the house.
-
Asphalt shingle
The standard roof on the Wasatch Front. Three-tab is the budget line; architectural laminated shingles are thicker, rated for higher wind, and most of what goes on today. -
Architectural and premium shingle
Heavier laminated shingles with higher wind ratings, and impact-resistant Class 4 options that matter in hail country. The usual call on a replacement. -
Metal
Standing seam and exposed-fastener panels. Sheds snow, outlasts shingle, costs more up front, and needs snow guards above doors and walkways so it does not dump on somebody. -
Flat and low-slope
TPO, EPDM and modified bitumen on additions, garages and commercial buildings. These fail at seams, drains and ponding spots rather than out in the field. -
Wood shake
Still on older bench homes. Repairable in sections, but once the decking underneath is reached, most get replaced with shingle or synthetic shake. -
Tile and slate
Heavy and long-lived. The underlayment beneath is what usually fails first, which is why tile roofs often need work the tile itself does not show.
What Utah weather does to a roof
Wind comes off the bench hard enough to break the seal strip on a shingle without taking it anywhere. The shingle looks fine from the driveway. The next gust lifts it right off. Spring snow is the wet, heavy kind, and it sits — loading the structure, finding its way under lifted shingles and into valleys that are not detailed well.
Then summer flips it. UV at this altitude is brutal on asphalt and on rubber vent boots, which dry out and split. Freeze-thaw works all winter on flashing, opening seams and caulk joints a fraction at a time. Most leaks we find are not dramatic failures. They are small details that weather has been working on for years.

What customers say
The entire White Ridge experience was top notch. From the initial consultation to the proposal to the installation. They were so much more focused on quality versus just a transaction. We received 4 quotes and 3 quotes were focused on a cheap roof option that would’ve lasted 10-15 years. Parker and his team walked us through every option and showed us the differences between the shingles and quality.
I’ve never had to face roof problems before, so I didn’t know what to expect. But White Ridge guided us through the process. What I really appreciated was the communication through the entire process. They had patience with all my questions and were so kind. The crew were friendly and they cleaned up everything when finished. I would 💯 recommend White Ridge Roofing!!
White Ridge Roofing does it better than everyone else. I’m not just saying that to promote some average service, no- they are spot on! They made the whole experience pain free, even walking us through ways to achieve extra savings. I’ll recommend White Ridge Roofing to anyone who I hear needs a roof fixed or is building a house!
This is THE BEST roofing I’ve had experience with!! So friendly, professional and knowledgeable. They responded immediately and completed their work efficiently. I would recommend White Ridge roofing to everyone!
Common questions
How do I know if my roof is actually damaged after a storm?
Often you cannot tell from the driveway. Hail bruising does not look like much from the ground — it shows as dark spots where granules have been knocked loose, and the real damage is the mat underneath being fractured. Wind damage is sometimes obvious, with shingles gone or folded back, and sometimes it is just a broken seal that lets the next wind take the shingle off entirely.
Things you can check without climbing: shingle granules collecting at the bottom of downspouts, pieces of shingle in the yard or flower beds, dents on gutters, vents or the metal on the chimney, and water stains on upstairs ceilings. If you see any of those, have someone look at the roof.
Can you tell me what a new roof will cost over the phone?
No. The price depends on the size and pitch of the roof, how many layers are coming off, what condition the decking is in, how many penetrations and valleys there are, and what material you want. We will come measure it and put a number in writing. Anyone giving you a firm price without seeing the roof is making it up.
Should I repair or replace?
It depends on the age and overall condition, not on the leak. A ten-year-old roof with a bad vent boot needs a boot, not a roof. A twenty-five-year-old roof with curling shingles, bare patches and leaks in more than one place is telling you it is done, and repairs on it become a cycle. We will give you an honest read on which situation you are in and what each option costs.
Will my insurance cover storm damage?
That is your insurer's decision, based on your policy, your deductible and what their adjuster finds. What we can do is inspect the roof thoroughly, photograph the damage, and provide a clear written scope of what the repair involves so you and your adjuster are looking at the same information. We cannot promise an approval and would be wary of any roofer who does.
What causes ice dams, and is my roof going to get them again?
Ice dams form when heat escaping into the attic melts snow on the upper roof, that water runs down to the cold eave and refreezes, and the ridge of ice backs water up under the shingles. The roof covering is rarely the root cause — insulation and ventilation usually are. When we inspect a roof with ice dam history, we look at the attic as well, because replacing shingles without fixing airflow leaves you with the same problem next winter.
Do you work on flat roofs and commercial buildings?
Yes. Low-slope roofing is a different system with different failure points — seams, drains, parapet flashing, ponding — and we repair those as well as steep-slope shingle roofs.
My roof is leaking right now. What do I do?
Call (801) 880-7663. In the meantime, put a bucket under it and, if the ceiling is bulging with trapped water, poke a small hole at the low point to let it drain in one place instead of spreading across the drywall. Do not get on a wet or icy roof yourself.
